  • Adventure SOS: Science Outreach Shows

Adventure Science Center (ASC) has been awarded an IMLS Museums for America Grant funded through July 31, 2008. These funds provide the resources for ASC to reach more K-8 at-risk students through outreach programs called Science Outreach Shows (SOS). In addition, the grant specifies that there will be student involvement in creating and evaluating the SOS programs, an Educational Advisory Team (EAT) providing feedback on curricula based programs and evaluation processes, an SOS teacher training component and a summer camp opportunity for SOS students.

Adventure SOS has been envisioned as a high priority strategic action program that would enable low income and underserved children and youth the opportunity to participate in programs that encourage them to be excited about science and pursue such activities both in and out of school. ASC will expand existing linkages with Boys and Girls Clubs in an important role to test and evaluate creative science education programs before taking them in the schools.

Adventure SOS can be booked by calling (615) 401-5066 Tuesday-Friday, or emailing glamothe@adventuresci.com
